One of leading Urdu poets, Manzoor Hashmi, passed away in Aligarh, reports reaching here said. He was born in Badaun in 1933 and after his matriculation from Haldwani, studied at Aligarh.
He did his graduation and PG from Aligargh Muslim University. Manzoor Hashmi retired as Deputy Librarian from Maulana Azad Library. He was published in reputed magazines including Ajkal and Shabkhoon.
His ghazals had a unique charm:
yahi to phailti hai bastiyoN meN
abhii jo aag dil meN jal rahii hai
yaqiiN ho to koii raastaa nikaltaa hhai
havaa kii oT meN hokar chiraaGh jaltaa hai

I was shocked to learn about the sad demise of Late Manzoor Hashmi.
May Allah rest his soul in Jannat ul Firdaus and give sabr e Jameel to his family and friends .Aameen Summa Aameen.
He was a very simple,sobre and sincere person.He was also a very soft spoken man with attractive and impressive personality.A Dilip Kumar of his time:Khub Surat Khub Seerat and even more than that when one met him.
He used to love every one who happened to meet him.
I had first met him way back fourty years back when he was a student of AMUA and them I used to meet him in the Maulana Azad Libray and used to take help from him and he was always kind enough to help me.
He was also a very colse friend of my uncle late Rafi uddin and he used to come to attend some Qawwalies organised by my uncle in Inchauli House,Dodh Pur,AMUA.
He used to visit some Dargah Sharief,like Ajmer Sharief,Nizamuddin,Kaliyar Saharief,Rurkee and many other Dargas.Once,ten years back he went to attend the Annual Urs Sharief of Kaliyar Sharief in Rurkee along eith my uncle late Rafi Uddin and his friends.
I last met him recently at the book shop Friend’s Book house,Shamshad Market,AMUA,when his close friend Asad Bhai,former Captain of Riding Club of AMUA was there.
He often used to sit there with Asad Bhai, Captaan Saheb and used to recite his Ghazals etc.
Since,he was from Badaun my susral,he used to be further very kind and nice and used to love me a lot.
With this death we have lost a great friend,sincere social worker,poet and loving brother.
Yun To Aatay Hain sabhi Duniya main Marney Kay liya;
Marna to Hai Usika Jisko Karay zamaan Yaad.

منظور ہاشمی ساحب سے میں اکثر مکتبہ جامعہ میں ملا کرتا تھا۔ بزمی بھارتی، منیجر مکتبہ جامعہ کے انتقال کے بعد منظور بھائی کا اڈا اسد یار خاں کے یہاں ہو گیا تھا۔ 1975 میں علی گڑھ چھوڑنے کے بعد ان سے ربط نہیں رہا تھا۔ ایک رسالے میں ان کا پتہ ملا اور سخن آباد کی اشاعت کی خبر ملی تو میں نے انھیں خط لکھا اور اپنا فون نمبر دیا، تب سے ان سے فون پر ربط رہا تھا۔ وہ سخن آباد کی فائل میری ڈیجیٹل لائبریری کے لئے دینا تو چاہ رہے تھے لیکن سی ڈی بھیج نہیں پا رہے تھے۔ آخر 23 دسمبر کو میں علی گڑھ کے سفر کے دوران ان سے گھر جا کر ملا اور یہ سی ڈی حاصل کی۔ ان کی یہ کتاب جلد ہی آن لائن ہو گی انشاء اللہ۔
