Eminent Urdu litterateur Yusuf Nazim passed away at his residence in Mumbai. He was 88. His wife and four children survive him.
Yusuf Nazim, one of the foremost Urdu humorist in India, was a prolific writer and wrote over two dozen books. He penned popular columns for newspapers like Inquilab.
His initial articles were published way back in 1944. For almost 65 years he consistently wrote. He had joined Labour department of Hyderabad Deccan in 1944 and retired as Deputy Commissioner Labour in 1976 in Mumbai.
Born as Syed Mohd Yusuf, he also wrote travelogues and books for children. In Urdu daily Inquilab, Nadeem Siddqui, in an obituary tells us about one of his couplets:
khoon-e-Aadam bahe saDkoN pe to rangeeni hai
aaj ke daur ki qismat hi filisteeni hai
Though his ancestors belonged to Farrukhabad in Uttar Pradesh, Yusuf Nazim was born in Jalna in Marathwada region of Maharashtra in undivided India.

Mr. Yousuf Nazim was not only a great poet, writer and humorist, he was also the greatest father in the world. We have lost our mentor and best friend. My mother has lost her soul mate. Please remember baba and us in your prayers.

kaise kahdoon ke woh hamare beech naheen hain jawed hayat
Yes it is hard to believe Mr.Yousuf Nazim is no more..it is three months now since his demise but we feel his presence everywhere..such an amazing person, so caring and wonderful and always smiling. He has left such a vaccuum in our lives and the world has lost a great writer and humorist.
Very sad to know this, he was very kind and artistic person. May GOD bless his soul..
Ameen Summa Ameen. He would have been 89 on Nov.7th. He was always so cheerful and spread happiness around him by wishing everyone else on his birthday. I wish he could have completed his last book.

Janab Yusuf Nazim Saheb ki Kami to koi pura nahi kar sakta.Aap ke gham mein hum bhi shreeq hain.Khuda aao ko sabr aur himmat ata farmaye. Aap se yeh guzarish hai ki Marhoom ka Adabi Ghosha sambhal kar rakhiye ga taki aane wali nasl unke kaam aur kalaam se mehroom na rahe.Agar main is mein koi madad kar sakti hun to zaroor yaad kije ga.

Today 23/07/2010 was my grand fathers death anniversary… cant believe he is no more… but his presence we all feel.. he was & always be remembered as a great man & a poet.

I am sorry to write after a long time. That time I was out of India and I did not get news that time. Mr. Yousuf Nazim Sahab was my friend Khalid’s Father, I could not even contacted him and sy sorry for the great loss.
